WOW! The kids are back to school and we're in awe of not only how fast summer flew by, but how much we learned throughout it.

For 11 weeks, we met with 20 high school students ranging from 14-18 years old, attending an array of schools, and not one with the same story.

We successfully completed the demolition of a kitchen, where the youth got to work on a real job site. They learned what it's like to interact with clients, how to maintain professionalism, and following through with all necessary steps to finish the work timely.

We ALSO completely demolished the interior of not one, but TWO, previously abandoned homes in the Cheatom Park neighborhood. The youth participated in hard work, and did so with smiles and laughter.

We had friends who offered their time to teach their trades. The students learned how to change outlets and light switches. They also took apart faucets and sinks, and learned how to reassemble them.

We spent some time in the gardens, pulling weeds and tending to tomatoes. We cleaned up the orchard, we laid weed barrier and mulch in between beds.

This summer was nothing short of amazing. We send the biggest thank you to all who made it possible!

Do you want to see the program come back again next summer? We have so many youth eager to learn and work - you can make a career for them in construction possible!
